The Barracks is one of the three Sleeping Facilities. It provides beds for your community and it can be upgraded once in 3 different ways.

Accepts Sleeping and Universal Facility Mods.

Barracks[]

Provides four beds and basic shelter.

Building Requirements:

  • Large Slot (Outdoor)
  • 4 / 5 / 7 / 10 / 13 Materials
  • 3 Labor

Facility Actions:

  • Upgrade: Barracks 2 (Six Beds)
  • Upgrade: Spartan Barracks 2 (Eight Beds, Morale Penalty)
  • Upgrade: Luxury Barracks 2 (Five Beds, Morale Bonus)

Passive Effects:

  • Beds (+4 Beds)
  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)

Barracks 2[]

Provides six beds.

Upgrade Requirements:

Note: Knowledge of Craftsmanship is not required in Heartland.

Facility Actions:

  • Convert: Spartan Barracks 2 (Eight Beds, Morale Penalty)
  • Convert: Luxury Barracks 2 (Five Beds, Morale Bonus)

Passive Effects:

  • Beds (+6 Beds)
  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)

Spartan Barracks 2[]

Provides eight beds and a morale penalty.

Upgrade Requirements:

  • Warlord Leader
  • 8 / 10 / 13 / 20 / 25 Materials ( 4 / 5 / 7 / 10 / 13 if you convert)
  • 4 Labor (2 if you covert)

Note: Warlord Leader is not required in Heartland.

Facility Actions:

  • Convert: Barracks 2 (Six Beds)
  • Convert: Luxury Barracks 2 (Five Beds, Morale Bonus)

Passive Effects:

  • Beds (+8 Beds)
  • Close Quarters (-3 Morale)
  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)

Luxury Barracks 2[]

Provides five beds and a morale bonus.

Upgrade Requirements:

  • Builder Leader
  • 8 / 10 / 13 / 20 / 25 Materials (4 / 5 / 7 / 10 / 13 if you convert)
  • 4 Labor (2 if you convert)

Note: Builder Leader is not required in Heartland.

Facility Actions:

  • Convert: Barracks 2 (Six Beds)
  • Convert: Spartan Barracks 2 (Eight Beds, Morale Penalty)

Passive Effects:

  • Beds (+5 Beds)
  • Spacious (+15 Morale)
  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)

Unique Barracks Facilities[]

Certain Home Sites will have their own unique built-in Barracks. These are the following:

Bunkhouse[]

The Bunkhouse can only be found in the Camp Kelenqua base. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Cramped Barracks[]

The Cramped Barracks can only be found in the Fort Marshall base. It has the same properties as the Spartan Barracks 2. Can't be demolished.

Crewhouse[]

The Crewhouse can only be found in the Mazzara Farm base. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. It also provides a small morale bonus. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Doorless Cells[]

The Doorless Cells can only be found in the Rural Police Station base. It has the same properties as the Barracks, however it gives a moderate penalty to Morale. Can be upgraded to remove the penalty. Can't be demolished.

Accepts Sleeping and Universal Facility Mods. Must be upgraded first.

In-game description: Provides four beds. Hurts morale unless upgraded.

Building Requirements:

  • None (Built-in)

Facility Actions:

  • Comfort Upgrade (Removes Morale Penalty)

Passive Effects:

  • Cell Bunks (+4 Beds)
  • Literal Jail Cells (-10 Morale)

Comfortable Cells[]

Provides four beds.

Upgrade Requirements:

  • 5 / 6 / 8 / 12 / 15 Materials
  • 2 Labor

Facility Actions:

  • None

Passive Effects:

  • Cell Bunks (+4 Beds)

Double Bunk Room[]

The Double Bunk Room can only found in the Clarington House, Justineau House, and Vogel House bases. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Firefighter Bunks[]

The Firefighter Bunks can only be found in the Prescott Fire Station base. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Firewatch Tower[]

The Firewatch Tower can only be found in the Firewatch Fortress base. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Notes:

  • Two of the beds are below the tower while the other two is up in the tower. Your survivors won't go to the top to use the upper two beds however.
  • The tower is also a survey point, allowing you to survey your surroundings if you climb to the top.

Military Cots[]

The Military Cots can only be found in the Checkpoint Delta base. It provides the same benefits as the Barracks, minus the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Sturdy Bunkhouses[]

The Sturdy Bunkhouses can only be found in the Farmland Compound base. It has the same properties as the Barracks 2, however it can be converted to match the properties of the Spartan Barracks 2. Can't be demolished.

In-game description: This pair of sheds has been converted into a sheltered sleeping area. Comfortably provides 6 beds, but we can fit two more by making folks a little unhappy about the crowded quarters.

Building Requirements:

  • None (Built-in) (2 Labor if you convert)

Facility Actions:

  • Pack the Bunkrooms

Passive Effects:

  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)
  • Lots of Bunks (+6 Beds)

Sturdy Bunkhouses (Packed)[]

This pair of sheds has been converted into a sheltered sleeping area. We've crammed 8 beds into a space intended for only 6 people. Folks are a little unhappy about the crowded quarters, but at least they have a place to sleep.

Upgrade Requirements:

  • 2 Labor

Facility Actions:

  • Unpack the Bunkroom

Passive Effects:

  • Daily Maintenance (Noisy) (-1 Materials Per Day, +1 Zombie Threat)
  • Lots of Bunks (+6 Beds)
  • Pack the Bunkrooms (+2 Beds, -5 Morale)

Trailer Park Beds[]

The Trailer Park Beds can only be found in the Pterodactyl Ptark base. It has similar properties as the Barracks, however it provides one extra bed, without the Daily Maintenance (Noisy) passive effect. Can't be demolished or upgraded.

Unlike the Barracks this facility doesn't have a Facility Mod slot.

In-game description: Five indoor beds (or rather, four travel mattresses and one sofa bed) for that rustic-chic sleepaway feeling.
